All VHS freshmen are enrolled in Pre-AP English 2! This College Board curriculum allows students to explore meaningful subjects and relevant events within the classroom. Topics are current and relevant, such as AI and the worldwide effects of technology. Students also learn to write and analyze arguments, identify why authors make certain choices, and produce their own poetry.
Ms. Evans and Ms. Sabala teach the course together, working seamlessly to help freshmen thrive. Our students navigate the rigor of an AP level class by collaborating, exploring a variety of texts, and seeking higher learning. Because students have overwhelmingly experienced success this year, Vilseck will repeat this model, offering rigor and a challenge for all freshmen again next year.
Some freshmen have this to say:
-
“In PRE-AP ELA, it shows how different all of our minds are and how differently they work, even if we are all writing about the same thing.” -Willa Greenwood
-
“I enjoy learning new ways to create reasoning and who to direct it to. Ms. Sabala is a joy to have and she creates fun ways to learn.” -Vivienne Sanches
-
“I love the fact that we get to collaborate with other students to gather a greater variety of opinions.” -Caleb Walters
