Model Senate is a unique simulation of the American congressional process in the United States Senate. High school students are assigned to play the roles of senators and other senior members of government where they enact legislation based on the platforms of their assigned lawmakers.
In the words of one of our amazing Model Senate students:
Students here learn about today's problems, how the U.S. system of passing bills works, and how to engage in respectful, meaningful debate. Politics can seem so hard to handle and with the polarization of politics it can even seem a little frightening. But with Model Senate, you can engage in the system that shapes your world without having to navigate the hazards. This fosters critical thinking and debate skills, both of which may serve you well in the future, and look excellent on a college application. So if you want to shape the world of tomorrow, if you want to learn about the system of today, or if you just want the intellectual stimulation of good debate, Model Senate is for you.

We are excited to announce our partnership with Columbia Southern University to offer The Military Child Education Coalition Heroic Hearts Scholarship.
This scholarship is designed to support a member of the military caregiving population — specifically, caregiving youth who are children and young adults actively involved in or impacted by the care needs of a wounded, ill, or injured service member. Caregiving youth can have the weight of the world on their shoulders, balancing the demands of caregiving, school, and adolescence. This scholarship will remove an obstacle, open doors, and bring career goals within reach. The Heroic Hearts Scholarship covers tuition and technology fees. Share this opportunity with 12th grade students and help make dreams a reality. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted now through April 30. Additionally, recipients may have the opportunity to receive their scholarship in person at the Military Child Education Coalition Global Training Summit in Washington D.C. in July 2025.
