On November 5 and 6, Vilseck High School’s AP Seminar students proudly presented their AP with WE service projects during both lunches outside the multi-purpose room. Students set up engaging displays and tables on a wide range of global and local issues, from education in Sub-Saharan Africa to the harmful effects of noise pollution on whale migration patterns.

The first day focused on raising awareness, as students shared research-based statistics and background information. On the second day, they shifted to solutions—encouraging peers to explore websites they designed and brochures they created. These presentations reflected weeks of in-depth research and will be a part of continued AP Seminar coursework.

AP with WE is a new initiative at VHS, introduced by Ms. Evans, Mr. Rich, and Mr. Swenty with the support of VHS Principal Dr. Davis. This College Board program, in collaboration with WE Charity, connects classroom learning with real-world problem-solving. Students not only master AP Seminar and AP World History content but also design and implement service projects based on their interests.

Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. From fundraisers and clothing drives to websites and information booths, students are taking action and feeling empowered to create change.

Those who meet College Board requirements will earn AP with WE Service Recognition—a distinction that strengthens college and scholarship applications while fostering civic responsibility.
